The story of Tanjong Lumen — where Singapore's rich heritage illuminates a new standard of luxury.
Tanjong Lumen was born from a vision to preserve the soul of old Singapore while creating a sanctuary for the modern traveller. Our building, a meticulously restored Peranakan shophouse on Bukit Merah View, dates back to the early 1900s — a time when the area was a bustling enclave of traders, craftsmen, and families.
When we acquired the property in 2012, we were captivated by its original terracotta tiles, ornate plasterwork, and the soft, golden light that filtered through its louvered windows. We spent two years carefully restoring every detail, marrying heritage architecture with contemporary design to create a space that feels both timeless and fresh.
Today, Tanjong Lumen stands as a testament to the belief that luxury need not be loud — that true elegance whispers.
Three principles illuminate everything we do at Tanjong Lumen.
Every guest is unique. We tailor each stay to your preferences, from room scent to dining choices, ensuring a deeply personal experience.
We honour Singapore's cultural legacy by preserving the architectural and artistic traditions that make our city extraordinary.
From locally sourced ingredients to energy-efficient design, we weave sustainability into every aspect of our operations.
Bukit Merah — meaning "Red Hill" in Malay — is one of Singapore's most characterful neighbourhoods. Just minutes from the Central Business District and the vibrant waterfront of HarbourFront, yet worlds away in atmosphere.
Our location offers the perfect balance: close to the city's premier attractions — Sentosa Island, Chinatown, and the Singapore Botanic Gardens — while nestled in a quiet enclave where the pace of life slows and the air feels different.
Step outside and discover traditional coffee shops, heritage trails, and the warm community spirit that makes Bukit Merah one of Singapore's most beloved districts.
Every corner of Tanjong Lumen is designed to delight and inspire.
